Anthony Byers is the Executive Director of Hartford Youth Scholars (HYS), a program focused and committed to student success through college completion. HYS is on the campus of Trinity college and serves nearly 300 students from 6th grade through college students.
Anthony comes with 15 years of basketball coaching experience ranging from Middle School AAU and travel programs to the very competitive New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC). Anthony earned his B.A. in 2007 from the University of Connecticut. He majored in Economics with a focus on the socioeconomics of race and gender and He currently serves on 2 boards including Community First School and Interfaith Village/Homes.
In 2013 he received the Connecticut Association of Educational Opportunity Programs’ Trio Achiever Award, and in 2015 he was named one of Hartford Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty and was also recognized as One hundred Men of Color.
